Madge Crease was only ten or so years old when she received this postcard. Aunt Bert is likely to have been her mother's sister, Bertha. Bertha married James Wickenden in 1900 and the couple lived in Frome where James was a shopkeeper and confectioner. Bertha was an assistant in the business.
Madge's father, Albert, was a commercial traveller. Her mother, Caroline Jupp, was born in Axbridge but lived in Clevedon where her father was the station master.
Madge died in 1912. Sadly, she wasn't the only child of Albert and Caroline to die young. Doris died a few months after her birth in 1898. The only surviving child was Arthur who became a probation officer.
